Tasmanian Pinot Noir
There is no Small Island vineyard. We make Tasmanian Pinot Noir from growers we know well, in small batches, one site at a time.
Saltwater River sits on the Tasman Peninsula, close to the water. It's a marginal site. Cool years are hard work, but warm years give a long, slow ripening with cool nights, and the wines carry a saline edge we've come to love.
The Coal River Valley, north-east of Hobart, gives us a more structured style, blended from two sites. The Black Label is our blend across sites.
Our Pinot is fermented in stainless steel, with wild ferments where we can, then aged in French oak. Every bottle is 100% Tasmanian grown and made by James Broinowski.
